Every career has a beginning. We're betting that even the best sellers on Amazon are scratching their heads at first, reading about the next ASIN, BB, EBC... You have to admit, it's easy to get lost in the names themselves, not to mention the abbreviations. Of course, we recently told you that you do not need to learn Amazon, and that all the 'black work' can be done by an external company. Nevertheless, it is worth knowing the basic abbreviations in order to know what the platform can do. Below you will find a glossary of Amazon terms that we believe should be familiar to anyone interested in the platform.
AAP- Amazon Advertising Platform- Amazon's advertising platform. Enables the automatic purchase of advertising to reach new and existing audiences on and off the Amazon site. It is possible to place both banner and video ads that appear not only on Amazon's sites, but also on its partners' sites and apps.
ACoS- Advertising Cost of Sale- the ratio of total advertising costs to sales achieved. This value is helpful, in assessing the profitability of an advertising campaign.
ACoS = total advertising costs/advertising revenue = profitability in %.
API- Application Program Interface. APIs allow the transfer of data. Within Amazon, for example, an API allows you to connect your invoicing programme directly to the platform.
ASIN- Amazon Standard Info Number- a ten-digit standard product information number. Every product on Amazon has its own unique ASIN. The number is not only found next to the product, but also in the URL code of its page.
B2B- Business to Business- a form of sales aimed at the business customer. The right choice of form is of paramount importance, especially in terms of marketing.
B2C- Business to Customer- a form of sales aimed at the private customer.
BB- Buybox- a button with which a product is placed in the shopping cart. It is located next to the product in question and is only assigned to one exhibitor. Among the list of exhibitors under an offer, only one can use the BB option. This is important as only a few choose another supplier from the list.
B/L- Bill of Lading- a bill of lading, a document confirming delivery.
BSR- Best Seller Rank- the sales ranking of a product within a category. It is created on the basis of sales data of specific products of the category and subcategories.
CPC- Cost per Click - a method of calculating costs in online marketing. In its simplest terms, CPC defines the cost incurred per view (i.e. click) of an advertisement by a recipient.
CR- Conversion Rate- a conversion rate used in the analysis of e-commerce data. For Amazon, the rate defines the percentage of the ratio of viewers of an offer, to actual sales.
For example, with 100 clicks and 10 sales, CR =10%.
EAN- European Article Number - product code. Every product sold in and from Europe has its own unique EAN code. It is useful not only for product identification, but also for online searches.
ECB- Enhanced Brand Content (also often referred to as A+ Content)-allows for a more optimal layout of the description and images on the listing page. Currently, Amazon only makes this option available to owners of registered brands.
EXW- Ex Works- an option that allows the buyer to collect the goods without going through the supplier- from the warehouse, the manufacturer or the seller. This means that the goods can be collected by the buyer from e.g. a warehouse or factory.
FBA- Fulfillment by Amazon- a sales model based on storing products and shipping from Amazon's warehouses. In this case, Amazon is responsible for shipping and customer service.
FBM- Fulfillment by Merchant- a sales model in which the merchant takes charge of product storage, shipping and customer service.
FNSKU- Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit- a stock number used to accurately identify a product for storage purposes.
FOB- Free on Board- a name used in international trade law. It refers to the identification of the liable party (for example, for damage or loss of goods). Under FOB, the seller is only responsible for the product until it is loaded onto the ship.
MOQ- Minimum Order Quantity- the minimum number of pieces of a specific product that can be ordered for an order to be fulfilled.
